On November 24, 2022, as part of the anti-waste law, the Secretary of State, Bérangère Couillard and the Minister of Ecological Transition, Christophe Béchu proposed five measures that aim to give a boost in the transformation of the textile sector.
Objective: by 2027, the government hopes that at least one out of two garments will be recycled.
The textile sector is the second most polluting industry in the world after oil. And for good reason : it is responsible of10% of greenhouse gas emissions. This industry is polluting in part because of the manufacture of the garment, it requires chemical substances and artificial elements, but also requires many resources such as water and energy among others.

Here are the five measures taken by the French government that will apply from 2023:
  • The State will propose an eco-score, an indicator that will allow us to know the environmental impact of clothing.
  • Financial bonuses will also be put in place for manufacturers of more sustainable products and those made from recycled products.
  • A fund of 150 million euros will be allocated in order to reduce the costs of repairing clothes and shoes, this aid will be offered to all citizens in the form of cheaper repair packages.
  • Another fund of 100 million euros will be dedicated to companies and associations that will refurbish used textiles to give them a second life.
  • Finally, for the year 2023, the government also aims to create a recycling channel for textiles in order to manufacture reused fibers without using new resources which will allow a lower eco-contribution.
  • Thus, CircularPlace also accompanies you in your zero carbon footprint approach with its anti-waste solution. CircularPlace has developed a marketplace connecting companies with associations and recyclers in order to valorize unsold and stagnant stocks.
